The Louisiana Verification Programs are multi-disciplinary efforts conducted by Extension and Research personnel within the LSU Agricultural Center. The design of the programs are to provide participating producers with the most up-to-date information and recommendations regarding production issues facing their commodity. In addition, the verification programs allow LSU Ag. Center personnel to "verify" the appropriateness and effectiveness of recommendations under the same un-controlled environment faced by producers. There are currently five different verification programs being conducted throughout Louisiana with one in each of the following commodities: Rice, Soybeans, Cotton, Sugarcane, and Crawfish. LSU Agricultural Center personnel work very closely with producers in making various production decisions throughout the production and harvesting seasons. In addition, producers and LSU Agricultural Center personnel work together in calculating costs of production and determining the overall profitability of the verification program fields. Producers interested in obtaining more information on the verification program and the availability of the program in their area should contact their local county agent or one of the following: |
